Creatively Yours #58- Birthday Superstar!

 Wow, I can't believe how busy the beginning of the year gets! Our homeschool school year is in full swing now. We're in our 2nd week already! Lots and lots of prepping that's been taking my time away from scrapping. I think it'll be about middle of next week when we all hit our stride and life gets back to a normal pace. For now, here's a new Creatively Yours layout for you!

We had another one of Noella's fabulous sketches to work on this week and I chose to use these pics of Scott from his birthday this year. He begged me for this Bakugan tin from Target for like 2 months so he was super surprised when he got it! Love the look on his face, and I love that he's old enough to 'get it' and give me the face without me having to explain what the gift is. Sierra had a similar reaction last year to a new pair of black tights (go figure).

CY Sketch #17- 784 pages, 6 hours...

Wow, it's been such a hectic few weeks in this house! Summer is in full swing, of course, and that means swim lessons, soccer practice, gardening, and generally keeping busy! I did take some time out after hubby got home from his 2 weeks away to go see the new Harry Potter. I rarely go to the theater- it's usually just too much hassle, but something about Harry Potter makes me figure out how. Fitting for this layout release, which is about the midnight release of HP book #7, which was a whole 2 years ago now! CRAZY! Anyway, here's my take on Ali's sketch this week.

(And yes, I really did stay up and read the whole book in 6 hours. Promise! These are the 2am pictures to prove it!)

Recipe for a Fabulous 6th Birthday

I know, I know, I've been totally MIA this week. Mark has been out of town on training for 2 weeks, and the continuous swim lessons/soccer practice/baby duty is getting to me. Luckily, he'll be home soon, but for now I just want to go to sleep!

Today I'm sharing another attempt at another birthday layout, trying to do something a little different with not-so-great photos. Sierra was so funny, she got all kinds of great gifts, but when she opened the black glitter tights she started jumping up and down yelling "YES! YES! YES!" like she's never ever seen a pair of tights before. Go figure!

Chickens and Jam!

There's something about summer that just makes me super busy with things outside the house. I thought I'd show you why I've been MIA this week. First, it's totally harvest time here for most of my favorite things! We went and got U-Pick blueberries on Father's Day and came home with 8lbs! I made a batch of blueberry butter (like apple butter), blueberry jelly, and a batch of everyone's favorite- blueberry lime jam. Then yesterday, I got a big batch of strawberries and cherries. Here's the strawberry jam, cooling on my counter. Cherry jam is on my to-do list for today.

Also taking up my time this week, I was finally able to get my chickens! I was able to get 7 chicks (they are 3 weeks old right now) and 2 slighty older chickens (3 months or so). I expect the older ones will start laying eggs for me sometime in the next month or so, but it will be a few months for the chicks. Anyway, I picked them up on Wed and we got them all set up and happy.

CY Sketch #55- {5 Months}

Today I have another fabulous sketch from Noella to show off here for you guys. I love this one! It's a round sketch, which just happened to be perfect for this sheet of Pink Paislee notebook style paper. This photo is one from way back in 2003, when Sierra was a baby. I have very few pictures from when the older kids were little, because I wasn't a scrapper back then and I didn't even own a camera! (Gasp, I know...) Anyway, I believe this may be the first time I've scrapped one of Sierra's baby pics, and I love how it came out!

Spontenaity, and a layout

So the people who know me in real life know that I'm a very random person. I'll decide to do something and then just do it, without thinking or prepping or anything. Mark was walking out the door on Thursday for a weekend trip to Montana to go to a close mutual friend's wedding when I decided that we should all go. I had previously decided not to go since the wedding was adult only, but I figured there was no reason the kids & I couldn't come with just to see Montana and say hi, even if we didn't go to the actual ceremony. So I dropped everything, threw together a suitcase and we all hopped in the van! So all my plans, including scrapping plans, got dropped. Plus, in the rush I forgot my camera cable so I can't share photos from the trip until tomorrow when we get home. In the mean time, here's a layout from earlier in the week.

Port Townsend

I hope everyone is having a fabulous Friday and that all that fabulousness continues all weekend long for you! I have been on the road with the kids to make it over to Port Townsend, WA for a fieldtrip to the Marine Science Center. The kids had a blast, and the weather here is absolutely amazing. Here are a few pictures to hold you over until I get back. Look for more scrappy stuff coming on Monday. I'm working on some DT things right now, which I'll be able to share soon I hope!

Friend Wormy

Here is a layout I got done this weekend for the Spring into Summer crop at Scrapperie.com. This sketch is by the fabulous Jana Eubank, and I found these pictures from way back before we had Venice that were just perfect. Sierra is such a girly-girl that it was a very big thing for her to get over it and actually pick up this worm. Then she lovingly named it her 'friend wormy,' right before she put it on the hook and said goodbye. It was definitely a moment to remember...

Most of this page was done with the February Memory Works kit, although I did add a few things on my own.

Our new addition!

Introducing Raja! She's my new 9 week old lab mix puppy. We had quite the time trying to agree on a name, so I decided to make a page about it. Of course, I really should have known that we couldn't name something else since it took us the whole 9 months to agree on a name for the baby! Anyway, you can't tell from this picture, but she's huge for only 9 weeks! And she's super mellow and shy, and very well behaved. So far we haven't had any accidents inside during the day, so we're crossing our fingers that that continues! Enjoy!
